About Me!

Hello! My name is Missy, and I am a student at the University of the Arts, London (UAL). I am currently getting my master’s in Media, Communications, and Critical Practice at the London College of Communication (LCC), and this is my blog!

I am an 25-year-old Black, female, international student from the United States, and before coming to UAL I was working at a non-profit called the American Civil Liberties Union doing work in Operations. After 3 years in that role, I decided I wanted to go back to school in a creative environment and to pursue what I did my bachelor’s in which was a degree in Communications with a minor in Black Women’s studies. I’ve always had an interest in sociology, culture, and media which is what lead me to this program.

Outside of academia, I enjoy hosting small gatherings, lounging with my cat, and building community. While moving to a new city, in a new country, is definitely daunting, I am enjoying the challenge of finding community wherever I go. Come along with me for the next 15 months as I navigate life as a postgraduate student at UAL.
